For the Portland Winter Light Festival, the design approach centered on creating clear, user-focused maps to guide visitors through the city’s art zones, including the City Center, West Riverfront, East-side Esplanade, and PSU Campus. As art director, a cohesive visual system was crafted using custom icons and clear layouts, enabling attendees to easily plan routes and explore key points of interest. These guide maps were optimized for web, print, and interactive kiosks, marking the first year PWLF offered such comprehensive navigation tools. Each map was designed in Adobe Illustrator to support both the visual aesthetic of the festival and enhance the visitor experience.
